Seltzer

Seltzer pullover

Seltzer is a very fun little sweater I already knitted 2 times! In fact, I am currently working on my third Seltzer....

Seltzer is a classic saddle shoulder pullover, worked entirely seamlessly from the top down. The design makes good use of the clever construction by using stripes and color work, to create a strong visual impression out of a very easy pattern.

I really love the fact that it is completely seamless, and that the design is very adaptable. The use of a worsted weight wool blend was my choice, and my little boy loved the colors and wore the sweater to school regularly until the weather warmed too much to justify wearing it!

It is also very easy to adapt the size of this design by adding or subtracting length to the sleeves and the body. If you want to customize it, simply choose the chest size you desire, and follow the instructions for a different length!

Star Gazing

Star Gazing started with a failed attempt at a previous cardigan idea I had been nurturing for a while. I was left scratching my head looking at a sweater quantity of Knitpicks Galileo in color "Pearl".

Star Gazing cardigan

The yarn is soft and drapes sumptuously, with a glamorous sheen that I could easily picture in a light warm weather cardigan. Not suitable for my original project (which involved cables and a lot of shaping), but totally adapted to a drapey open fronted cardigan with a large collar.

Color "Pearl"

I built a large lace collar to frame the face and take advantage of the fluid nature of the yarn and decided to integrate it with a simple raglan yoke and straight body.

The result if very flattering for all figure types and supremely easy to wear.

Star Gazing is now available for individual download in my Ravelry store.

Raspberries

Raspberries is a new take on a classic: a V-Neck cardigan, worked from the top-down with raglan sleeves in a versatile worsted weight wool. The waist is subtly shaped to flatter the body and the sleeves are tapered for a sleek line without being too tight. The overall look is a fresh and refined version of the casual everyday cardigan.

The lines of the cardigan are accentuated by the beautiful panels on the fronts, back and sides, for a truly feminine knit that looks way more complicated than it really is. The large ribbing bands finishes the cardigan for a timeless look. I used my favorite method for increasing at the raglan line, which I explain in the pattern, and I like to think it gives a tailored appearance to the sleeve line.

For this cardigan, I chose to work with one of my favorite everyday yarns: Valley Yarns Northamptons, in color "Raspberry Heather" (I guess I liked the color, for I named the cardigan after it!).

So, here is Raspberries, and I hope you will like it as much as I do!

It is also off course available in my Ravelry Store:

La Clusaz cardigan

La Clusaz is a light and flirty cardigan designed to welcome the warm weather. It has short sleeves, lace pannels and is worked in the softest warm weather yarn possible, in a manageable sport weight! What more could you ask for a simple summer knit?

For this project, I used my stash of Knitpicks Shine Sport, in color Wallaby. I really loved working with this yarn, it is both extremely soft and has a beautiful shine which gives it just a little bit of a chic tone.

I actually started this particular design over a year ago, but was never satisified with it or with the yarn I used for it. When I dug out this yarn from one of my boxes, I tried it out and was so pleased to finally find the right match for my idea that I rushed into knitting it. Off course, there were a few bumps along the way, but in the end I think I am quite pleased with my design and I love the results! It was both extremely satisfying to finally get to produce this design and even more so to do it using a yarn that was lingering in my stash for too long.

The pattern is now available from my Ravelry store and my Craftsy store, and soon from Knitpicks also!

I really hope you will love this one: it makes such a fast and pretty knit!

Adagio

Adagio is the third open front cardigan from my series started with Allegro, then Andante. Following the series, it worked seamlessly from the top down.

For this cardigan, I chose to work with Knitpicks Wool of the Andes Tweed, a nice, budget friendly, Peruvian wool tweed yarn that works up quickly and is makes for a beautiful tweed fabric that shows texture and lacework very well.

This cardigan is the most feminine of the series and has a beautiful classic diamond lace on the back, and the tweed yarn was perfect to add just the right touch of rusticity to the classic look of the diamond lace.

It makes for a fast and rewarding project, using worsted weight wool and US 7 (4.5mm) needles, an easy top down construction that allows you to try it as you knit (worth the time and effort: you are sure your cardigan will fit you perfectly!).

It is very flattering for a wide range of figures and the lace on the back gives it a little touch of feminity that is just perfect to dress up any ensemble. The hem, collar and cuffs are worked in a ripple pattern, for an original finish to a classic cardigan.

Overall, this cardigan follows the spirit of the series to create a classic wardrobe staple that is sure to be well loved over the years.

Andante

After quite a while, I have now finished the second cardigan of my series of 3 cardigans named after the wonderful books from Felix Leclerc. Note that the collar looks like it wants to ruffle in those pictures, but it is because of my poor packaging skills: they were flat before I folded it wrong!

This cardigan, named Andante, is extremely simple and versatile. It is worked almost exclusively in stockinette stitch, from the top down with raglan sleeves and finished 2X2 ribbing on the hem, collar and cuffs. The waist is shaped by a large 2X2 ribbing band. The sleeves are tapered to obtain a sleek look that flatters the whole silhouette and makes for a very practical garment.

I used a wonderful superwash yarn to make this one: Knitpicks Swish Tonal in color 'Pacific'. I do love the softness of it and these tonal colors are simply amazing!

Andante is also very flattering, in a sporty kind of way, and I do love to cuddle in it while I go on a weekend hike!
