Allegro

It has been some time now that I have not blogged here, simply because I am working on a series of open fronts cardigan named after three books from one of the most prominent author from my homeland: Felix Leclerc. This series of three books begins with Allegro, follows with Andante and is finalized with Adagio. I invite all of you who would love to discover the particular charm of Quebec's literature to read it as well.

This cardigan, named Allegro, is very simple yet elegant and rewarding. It is worked almost exclusively in stockinette stitch, from the top down with raglan sleeves and finished with garter stitch edging. The waist is gently shaped at the back with a medallion made with cable. For the sample in green, I used a wonderful - and totally affordable - yarn : Knitpicks Wool of the Andes, in color 'Pampas Heather'.

Here are some more pictures of the cardigan:

I also find the design to be extremely flattering for the silhouette. This is due to a combination of the gentle waist shaping, the open fronts and the straight sleeves. I always find myself very sensitive to how  particular garment flatters my silhouette, so this was a definitive winner in my wardrobe!

Winter Berries Scarf

This is the prototype of my lastest scarf design, intended to be a gift for my grandmother for this upcoming Christmas. I used the Valley Yarns Northamptons in the color Natural to do it and I am very pleased with the results!

The pattern in itself is relatively easy and since it is worked up in worsted weight wool, it is both warm and quick to make! I find it elegant and feminine, and I like how the ruffles complement the crescent shape of the scarf. More pictures?

Test begins today, 12/15/2011... until 01/15/2012. Pattern to be release right after the end of test.

After some deliberation, I decided to knit a second sample of this scarf, to validate the test and to make one for myself, as the original sample is a gift for this coming Christmas.

The pattern is now available trough Ravelry: Winter Berries
